Holding the same amount

Seeing that containers of different shapes can hold the same amount, and comparing how much they hold by the cups that fill them.

How to help

Look at the number of cups, not the shape: a tall thin vase and a short wide bowl can both hold 6 cups.

Watch for: Picking the tallest container as the one that holds the most. Comparing the drawings instead of the numbers of cups. Adding when the question asks how many more.

At home: Fill a tall glass with water, then pour it into a wide bowl. Ask: is there more water now, or the same?
