Telling whether any whole number is odd or even from its ones digit, and seeing that an even number splits into two equal whole parts.

How to help

Look only at the ones digit: 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 means even, anything else is odd. The other digits don't matter.

Watch for: Looking at the first digit instead of the last. Calling 1,000 odd because it has a 1. Halving 468 as 234 + 243.
