Time zones

Reading a table of U.S. time zones, finding the time in another zone, and working out when a flight lands in another zone.

Download PDFMake your ownThe PDF has this sheet, its answer key and a guide for grown-ups.

How to help

Find how many hours apart the two zones are. Going east, add the hours; going west, subtract them. For a flight, add the flight time first, then change zones.

Watch for: Adding hours going west instead of subtracting. Forgetting to switch a.m. to p.m. when passing noon. Changing zones but forgetting to add the flight time.

At home: Call or message a relative in another time zone and work out together what time it is there first.
