Watch for: Picking a picture that isn't part of the pattern at all. Copying the last picture again instead of the one that comes next. Missing that a pattern like fish, ladybug, leaf repeats in threes.
At home: Make patterns with spoons and forks, claps and stomps, or colored socks. Let your child add the next few, then make one for you.
