Watch for: Adding instead of multiplying: 5 times as many as 7 is 35, not 12. Writing different numbers in the two blanks on one line; both ask for the same number. Mixing up which amount is the bigger one in the comparison.
At home: Compare things at home with times: a carton of 12 eggs holds 2 times as many as a box of 6. Ask your child to say it as a multiplication: 12 = 2 × 6.
