Start at the top: 4 straight sides makes a quadrilateral. Then check each family's rule: two pairs of parallel sides, four right angles, four equal sides. List every one that fits.

Watch for: Giving a square just one name when it fits four families. Missing a rectangle that's turned at an angle, or a square standing on its corner. Calling every rhombus a rectangle: its corners are only sometimes right angles.
At home: Draw a family tree with quadrilateral at the top. Add shapes you find at home under every branch they belong to.
