Count the corners where two straight sides meet; a triangle has 3, a pentagon 5. For solids, count the flat faces, remembering the ones hidden at the back.
anglea corner where two sides meet
sidea straight edge of a flat shape
facea flat surface of a solid
pentagona shape with 5 sides and 5 angles
Watch for: Counting the same corner twice, or losing the starting one. Thinking a turned shape is a different shape. Counting only the faces you can see: a cube has 6.
At home: Hunt for shapes at home and count their corners. Pick up a box and count its faces together.
