How to help

Use facts you know to reach ones you don't: double for 2s and 4s, count by fives, and 9 × 6 = 10 × 6 − 6. Division facts come from the same table.

Watch for: Skip-counting from the start every time instead of from a known fact. Mixing up close facts, like 6 × 8 = 48 and 7 × 8 = 56. Treating division facts as new ones instead of using the table.

At home: Practise a few facts a day, not a whole table at once. Say each fact aloud with its answer; speed comes once it feels easy.
