Hundreds, tens and ones

How to help

Count the flats as hundreds, the rods as tens and the cubes as ones, then write the digits in that order. A place with nothing in it gets a 0.

Watch for: Leaving out a zero: 3 hundreds and 5 ones written as 35. Counting every rod and cube as one. Thinking 5 hundreds is 5 tens instead of 50 tens.

At home: Use coins or bills: $1, 10¢ and 1¢ pieces as hundreds, tens and ones. Make a number and have your child write it.
